Keep WordPress or move it
When moving off WordPress makes sense, when to keep it for now, and what the crew can and can't do for a WordPress site as of October 2026.

Should I keep my WordPress site or move it?
It depends on what your site relies on. If it is mostly pages and blog posts, moving is usually the better choice: the crew moves every post, keeps old links working with redirects, and you stop updating plugins. If your site depends on plugins for a store, memberships, bookings or courses, plan those features with Lenexa first, or keep WordPress for now. As of October 2026 the Studio has no WordPress connection, so the crew's built path is the move.
What moving gets you
- Every post and page moved into a new site the crew builds, with titles, dates, authors, categories, tags and images.
- Old links keep working. Every old address gets a redirect to its new page, so visitors and search engines land in the right place.
- No plugins to update. The new site is plain files on your hosting.
- A short list to check. Posts the move flagged, like an image that was already missing, come to you as "worth a look".
When to wait
Moving is not the right first step if a plugin does real work for you:
| Your site uses WordPress for | Before you move |
|---|---|
| A store with checkout | Talk to Lenexa about how the new site will take orders. |
| Member logins or courses | Ask Lenexa what a replacement would involve. |
| Bookings or forms from a plugin | The Lead Developer can build forms and booking. Plan them with Lenexa first. |
| Many people posting each week | Decide how they'll post after the move. See new posts after a move. |
If you keep WordPress
The Studio has no WordPress connection as of October 2026. Under Connections you can save cPanel, SSH or FTP logins, which Deployment uses to publish files. It does not sign in to your WordPress admin to update plugins or edit posts. If that is what you need, ask Lenexa what she can do for your site before you plan around it.
