Getting started

Approve a design, then go live

How Preview works, how to approve a design or ask for changes, and what happens when you give Deployment the go-ahead to publish.

When do I approve things, and what happens when I do?

It depends on the job, but there are two moments you always decide. First, when a design or draft is ready, you review it in Preview and press Approve or Request changes. Second, before anything is published, Lenexa asks for your go-ahead. Nothing is public until you give it. Approving tells the crew to keep going, so look at the phone view too. If you're not sure, ask for changes: the crew waits.

Facts as of October 2026.

Review in Preview

When a card reaches Preview ready, it moves to Needs you on your Board and a preview card appears in the chat with Open preview. Preview opens on the right side of your Studio.

  • Switch between Desktop and Phone to see both sizes. Most visitors will see the phone version.
  • Use the site picker if you have more than one site.
  • The footer says Preview, not public. Nobody else can see it.

Approve, or ask for changes

  1. Request changes

Press Request changes. The message box fills in "Changes for" and the page name. Say what to change in plain words, like "bigger photos, and put the phone number at the top". The crew makes a new version and the card comes back to you.

  2. Approve

Press Approve. This sends Lenexa "Approved" with the page name and "Go ahead with the next step." The crew moves on: the writing, the build and the search work start from the design you approved.

    Needs you: approve the design

Approving means "keep going"

Once you approve, the next specialists build on that design. Small changes later are fine, but a big change of direction after the build uses more credits than asking now.

Want to compare before you choose? Ask the Website Designer for another direction. Each direction is design work and uses credits, so you decide how much exploring to do.

Give the go-ahead to publish

Deployment never publishes without your go-ahead on that card. When the site is ready, Lenexa asks you. Say yes in the chat, or approve the card.

Then Deployment uploads the site to your hosting, checks that private files stayed private, and opens the real address to confirm it loads. Only then does it report the site as live. What Deployment checks has the full list.

Your old site

If you already have a site at that address, it keeps running until Deployment publishes. Files with the same name are replaced by the new ones. Deployment doesn't delete other files on your server.

Turn on the live email

In your Studio, open Settings and look under Email me when. Turn on A site is live to get an email when a new site or a redesign goes live. Routine updates publish quietly.
